Through years of experience with SOA projects, we at SOA Systems have gained a a great amount of knowledge and insight into the service-oriented computing platform and the complexion of real world service-oriented solutions. Our foremost concern for any project we commit to is to draw upon this experience in order to deliver successful results that exceed client expectations. Below is a sampling from a series of internal guidelines and best practices we use for on-going projects: Rigorous requirements gathering Never before has there been a computing platform so capable of accurately fulfilling business automation goals. However, in order to realize this potential, the respective business models, processes, and requirements need to be fully understood prior to implementation as automation logic. We therefore employ a very thorough process for collecting and documenting business requirements. Risk management and simplification of technical transitions We fully recognize the risks and complexities the service-oriented solution building process can impose on development projects. We therefore address these concerns by incorporating risk assessments, relying on mature and proven technologies whenever possible, and always looking for options to simplify new environments. Constantly Staying on top of industry developments We continually remain aware of the ever-changing SOA marketplace. The adoption of open specifications, technological developments by prominent vendors, acquisitions of corporations with relevant technology, and other related events in the IT community are of great interest and concern to us as we continually map out and gauge the on-going evolution of the service-oriented computing platform. Managing organizational issues We fully recognize the internal challenges organizations face when transitioning toward SOA. Our approach is to ensure that organizational issues never take a backseat to technology and solution delivery issues. We work extensively with IT management and project teams to establish communication plans and to introduce or augment organizational processes and roles, as required. Our primary goal is to ensure that to whatever capacity we are providing services our clients end up empowered with strategic guidance and cutting-edge solutions that put them on a path from where they can fully realize the benefit potential SOA has to offer. Planning for governance With every project, analysis, design and solution delivery issues naturally become primary concerns. However, when establishing a service-oriented environment, it is crucial to take the subsequent governance requirements and impacts into consideration prior to building anything. How services are delivered will often dictate how they need to be governed. We constantly look for opportunities to reduce governance burden in support of optimal and long-lasting business agility. |
