November 17-18, 2005
SOA Systems will be delivering a public two day seminar entitled "Service-Oriented Architecture and the Principles of Service-Orientation". The seminar will take place at the Software Productivity Center in Vancouver, Canada on November 17 and 18, 2005. Below is the abstract: Driven by the emergence of XML and Web Services, and further influenced by distributed computing and BPM, Service-Oriented Architecture has evolved to represent the IT industry’s foremost computing platform. The same manner in which mainframe systems were succeeded by client-server applications, and client-server environments then evolved into distributed solutions based on Web technologies, SOA is succeeding traditional distributed architecture on a global scale. All major software manufacturers and vendors are promoting support for SOA; some even through direct involvement in the development of open standards. As a result, every major development platform now officially supports the creation of service-oriented solutions. SOA establishes a powerful platform for building solutions and unifying corporate intelligence, but it brings with it a multitude of new technology, concepts, and requirements. In order to best leverage the benefits SOA, you need to attain an knowledge of what a contemporary SOA platform is comprised of, and how SOA is distinguished from previous distributed architectures (and architectures that use Web services in a non-service-oriented manner). Further, you need to understand what service-orientation is, and how it imposes unique requirements on the design of services and service-oriented solutions. This seminar will assist you in attaining this understanding. It covers a wide variety of topics to provide you with a well-rounded knowledge of the multifaceted SOA platform. For more information, read the seminar brochure (pdf). |
