SOA Systems will be delivering a public two day seminar entitled "Service-Oriented Architecture and the Principles of Service-Orientation". The seminar will take place at the Hotel Korpilampi in Espoo (near Helsinki), Finland on March 7-8, 2006.

Below is the abstract:

Driven by the emergence of XML and Web Services, and further influenced by recent advancements in distributed computing technology, service-oriented architecture (SOA) has evolved to represent the IT industry's foremost computing platform.

The same manner in which mainframe systems were succeeded by client-server applications, and client-server environments then evolved into distributed solutions based on Web technologies, service-oriented computing is succeeding traditional distributed platforms on a global scale. All major software manufacturers and vendors are promoting support for SOA; some even through direct involvement in the development of open standards. As a result, every major development platform now officially supports the creation of service-oriented solutions.

SOA establishes a powerful platform for building solutions and unifying corporate intelligence, but it brings with it a multitude of new technology, concepts, and challenges. In order to achieve its benefits, you need to attain knowledge of what today’s SOA platform is comprised of, how it can leverage current XML and Web Services technologies, and how to best plan for a transition. Further, you need to understand what service-orientation is, and how it imposes unique requirements on the design of services and service-oriented solutions.

This seminar will assist you in attaining this understanding. It covers a wide variety of topics to provide you with a well-rounded knowledge of the multi-faceted SOA platform, as well as best practices to overcome common obstacles and pitfalls.
