SOA Systems has been a supporting member of the WS-BPEL technical committee, as this group works toward the release of WS-BPEL version 2.0. In support of the planned ratification of this specification, the TC will is planning to release an official primer. This document will act as a tutorial for anyone who needs to learn WS-BPEL.
In cooperation with Prentice Hall and several OASIS directors, an entire chapter from SOA Systems founder Thomas Erl's recent book "Service-Oriented Architecture: Concepts, Technology, and Design" has been contributed to OASIS as an official submission for the WS-BPEL technical committee. Upon review of the TC chairs, it was decided that this document will be used as the starting point from which to create the OASIS primer. Thomas is also participating as an editor on the WS-BPEL Primer TC. This sub-committee plans to have the primer completed by May 2006.
