SOA Systems Celebrates 10 Years

Founded in 1997 by Thomas Erl and formerly named "XMLTC Consulting Inc.", SOA Systems celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The original focus of the company was on XML technologies during the era when the XML specification was in development until it became a ratified standard in 1998. This area of specialization and constant involvement in the standards community led to a natural emphasis on Web services technologies and the notion of service-oriented architecture, which began to gain traction in late 2001 and inspired Thomas Erl to write one of the very first books about SOA.

During that time, as the company became more and more involved in cutting edge SOA initiatives, it was renamed to "SOA Systems Inc." to better reflect its areas of expertise. This change in name by no means lessened its attention on XML, as the Extensible Markup Language continues to be one of the core technologies in SOA implementations.
